In the heart of Nottingham’s town centre is Bromley Place, a purpose-built student accommodation development opened for the 2024/25 academic year. The ambitious project was built by contractor RG Group, offering 271 beds in 121 self-contained studios and another 150 bedrooms within cluster flats.
Located close to local shops, restaurants and bars, Bromley Place is a new build aimed primarily at returning students. Its facilities are impressive and include group and solo study areas, a games room, a cinema room and a Pilates studio.
Known locally as the old Argos building, the site dates back to the Victorian era. This was a challenge for the developers, who had to strip the inside and build a new concrete frame that met modern building regulations.
Seamless access
Naturally, a brand-new facility required a suitably state-of-the-art smart access control system, and to deliver this, RG Group turned to NSP Security.
The SMF Duo lockset was chosen for the project due to the wide choice of handles, which enabled RG Group to provide the desired modern look combined with the latest technology. This ensures residents have seamless access to all locations and strong digital security.
As well as the provided digital keycard, residents can easily manage guest access using the smartphone app, which also enables residents to use their device as a virtual key.
A happy client
Work began on the site in May 2024, and, as ever for a student build, the pressure was on to be ready for the start of the academic year. As such, RG Group was keen to ensure there were no late-stage delays to the project in the installation of the smart access system on over 300 doors, including all the rooms and the communal areas. NSP Security ensured everything was in place for students in time for the site’s September 2024 opening.
